Dear Julie:

I have a question. It is my understanding that God places dream and passions in your heart and I have had one since my younger years. I feel as though He is finally guiding my steps towards it but I think I'm in a waiting period. I'm getting discouraged waiting because I don't know the next move. Anyhow, I see a lot of readings that say God wants you to go for that vision you have in your heart but some say that His plan is different from ours. Does that just mean he has a different plan for getting you to the same outcome or something totally different than the dream/passion He has placed in your heart? It's all confusing and anxiety provoking because I want this dream to come to pass eventually. I truly have faith and believe with all my heart that He will do it but then I get confused when I hear that His plans are not our plans. So why put visions in our heart? Please help Julie, thank you! –Seeking to do God’s will

Dear Seeking:

The verse that you are referencing is Isaiah 55:8-9 that says: "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your ways."

One way of determining whether the dream you have is from God is to check it against Scripture. God would never put a dream in your heart that is not good for you or others. Ask yourself:

 1) Is this dream of mine something that would glorify God and bless the body of Christ?

2) Is this dream of mine something that would help others and promote good things?

3) Is this dream of mine attainable by me (with God's help) or does it require help from others (who may not necessarily share my dream)?

Ask God to give you wisdom. Listen to the prompting of the Holy Spirit, and watch Him open or close doors to confirm your dream.

May God bless and keep you close. Julie
